3 weeks in a row now for Gaz without any returns!

Spurs were unimpressive in their game at Wembley against Burnley, who snatched a late equaliser in a 1-1 draw where Kane blanked for a third consecutive match.

Despite this, my predicted top performing player of Alli did okay, scoring Spurs’ only goal netting him 9pts.

Richarlison and Watford were also uninspiring in their plum home match against Brighton, which ended up a drab 0-0.

The success for the week goes down to Pilko.

His maverick style picks that week paid off with Tommy Smith netting a clean sheet and 2 bonus points, giving him 8pts with Pilko predicting 9pts – very unlucky to not hit the nail on the head, as Smith was just 1 off getting max bonus on the BPS system which would have given Pilko a total of 4pts that week (1pt for differential scoring 6+ points and 3pts for predicting the exact return of a player predicted) and a substantial lead over myself and Gaz.

That 1 pt difference in the BPS for Smith means that Pilko just gets the 1pt this week and levels me on 2pts at the top of the leaderboard, with Gaz still yet to register anything.

Still plenty to play for, onto the next one!

Gameweek 4 Picks

  1. Top scoring player (TSP): Ramsey – 15pts
  2. Differential: Atsu – 8pts

Justification for TSP: Whilst Arsenal aren’t in the best form, their fixture against another side that aren’t in form (Bournemouth) could provide the perfect platform for them to bounce back and I can see Ramsey ghosting in the box late to bag himself a goal or two (if he starts). Bournemouth have conceded more shots inside the box than any other team in the PL so far (37) and I expect Arsenal and Ramsey to click back into gear, to take full advantage of that in the form of 3 goals including a brace and 3 bonus with no clean sheet for Ramsey.

Justification for differential: Another team that aren’t doing particularly great defensively are Swansea. They’ve conceded more shots than any other team in the PL so far (62) and aren’t far behind Bournemouth in terms of ‘shots in the box conceded’ either (33). With 14 penalty area touches for Atsu and 6 registered goal attempts, I think this could be the perfect fixture for the Ghanaian winger to get on the scoresheet and I’m backing him to do so and to knick a bonus point.

  1. Top scoring player (TSP): Lacazette – 16pts
  2. Differential: Matt Phillips – 10pts

Justification for TSP: Clearly the fixture with the best chance of goals. Bournemouth aren’t in great form and neither are Arsenal and I can see this being a high scoring game with Arsenal attackers set to profit in particular. Wenger surely has to play Lacazette this week and if he does, Lacazette can fill his boots against an unorganised Cherries defence.  I see 2 goals and an assist for the Frenchman with max bonus.

Justification for differential: Phillips hasn’t fired as of yet, but the underlying stats suggest that it’s coming for the pacey winger. 10 penalty area touches with 8 goal attempts, 4 of them coming inside the box, suggest a player who is on the verge of bagging some attacking returns and I can see it happening this week against Brighton. I see a goal and 3 bonus points for Matty Phillips.

  1. Top scoring player (TSP): Giroud – 16pts
  2. Differential: Giroud – 16pts

Justification for TSP and differential: Arsenal need to put on a strong performance for their home crowd, after much deserved criticism over the last two away performances. Giroud started both games for France over the international break and will be pushing a place in the gunners XI. Expecting a high scoring Arsenal win here (3/4-1). Giroud to get 2 goals and an assist for me. I’ve even put Giroud out there for a cheeky captain differential shout this week in my captain article >
