So, after a gruelling period of lockdown with not much to do for most of us and no football to keep us Leroy Sane, it looks like Premier League football, and as a result, our beloved Fantasy game, is coming back very soon – hallelujah!
That means of course, that myself and my team are going to be back providing you with all the essential stuff you need to get back on your feet and raring to go for the rest of this unprecedented season.
Planning and preparation, as always, will be essential and there’s going to be some key things you’re going to need to know to get yourselves ready again.
Rule change and Fixtures
First of all, as I’m sure most of you already know, the Premier League have announced that teams will now be able to make 5 substitutions during a match and the bench has been increased from 7 to 9.
Secondly, here is the provisional fixtures announced by the Premier League…
The above are the first 3 match rounds only and of course, have huge implications to FPL as with so many games within such a short space of time, combined with the 5 subs rule now in place, it’s going to be so difficult picking anyone who will play a full 90.
So, I’m not going to sit here and try to tell you who is more or less likely to complete 90 minutes as it will be impossible to know who’s come out of lockdown in what condition – we simply don’t know yet.
We just have to adapt as best we can and as quickly as possible to the constant barrage of new information we will get.
Another thing you’ll need to know is that the first Gameweek back is going to be a double gameweek.
Manchester City, Arsenal, Sheffield United and Aston Villa all play twice within the first gameweek back.
- Manchester City vs Arsenal
- Aston Villa vs Sheff United
- Brighton vs Arsenal
- Newcastle United vs Sheff United
- Aston Villa vs Chelsea
- Manchester City vs Burnley
Official FPL Plans
So far… well, not much -_-
Lots of these and not much actual information about what they’re planning to do with the game sadly so there’s not too much we can do until then.
However, there’s been plenty of discussion about unlimited transfers to get us back into it before the first deadline with some saying it’s unfair and others saying it’s needed.
No matter which side of this fence you sit, let’s just be grateful that PL football is coming back and react to whichever way it lands by planning and preparing.
From a content point of view, we’ll be trying to cover as much as we can when we can but given the crazy turn arounds for each gameweek there’s no guarantee we can hit every article each time, so you’ll have to bare with us as we work as quickly as possible to try to give you the information you want and need.
Captain Metric piece
I will continue with my ‘Captain Metric’ piece but I won’t be doing the Captain Metric for double gameweeks as it simply doesn’t work, so for those, I will simply add in all the underlying stats and my own analysis of the candidates.
Additionally, with the metric, I work with previous GW data, which of course is now way out of date as the last matches took place a fair long time ago, but, it’s the only data we have to consult so I will do so regardless and you guys can infer what you like from it, but my own analysis will be up to date and will take in the other non-statistical factors.
Press conference summary
I will do my best to cover the press conferences with my team but currently, we have no information about press conferences in terms of when and how they will be conducted so again, please bare with us with regards to this but we will attempt to continue to provide this.
Other articles we will include will mainly focus on planning and preparation with regards to the game once we get more information from Official FPL.
How to play out the rest of season, use of remaining chips and any new information we get about teams/players, who to target/not to target etc.
I’m sure we will get an announcement soon from FPL about the game re-opening and as soon as we do, we will start to plan our content but for now, hope this helps and let’s get excited for the return of Premier League football!
It’s good to be back 🙂
